The Shoreline Outdoor Education Center is situated on 6 acres of town-owned property at 730 County Road in North Guilford Connecticut in an Old School.
Built in 1913, "The Consolidated School" served the community as a two room School House until 1954, whereupon it became a Special Needs daycare facility.
Since 1982, Environmental Education Curriculums have been offered at the center for Shoreline School Systems and Shoreline Communities.
In 1988, Dr.
Karen Christensen came on board as Director of the non-profit
Center. She broadened the traditional natural History/wilderness
curriculums to embrace the concept of environmental literacy.
